Will Smith and Jaden Pinkett Smith have a little star on their hands. Their son, Jaden Smith, 11, (who made his acting debut with his dad in The Pursuit of Happyness) has been named ShoWest’s Breakthrough Male Star Of The Year for his role in The Karate Kid.

His acceptance speech:

“My dad prepared a speech for me with a bunch of funny stuff in it,” Jaden said to the audience . “But I’m 11 and I’m nervous, so thank you!”

“Jaden Smith is an exceptional young actor who has delivered a true breakout performance with his portrayal of Dre Parker in The Karate Kid,” says Robert Sunshine, managing director of ShoWest.



The remake of The Karate Kid, co-produced by Jaden’s parents, also stars veteran Jackie Chan and Taraji Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). Judging from the trailer, the movie is going to be a summer blockbuster. Columbia Pictures The Karate Kid hits theaters June 11.

Sure, it's not easy to sit down and talk about the end of your marriage to a basketball star, the father of your five children, but I guess someone has got to do it. Shaunie O'Neal spilled the tea to Essence magazine on why she left Shaquille O'Neal and reveals that her marriage started to go south when he was traded to the tempting city of Miami.

Oh, and her new reality show on VH1 is called “Basketball Wives,” and it premieres on Sunday, April 11th at 10PM ET/PT.

Shaunie on when and where things began to go downhill:

"Miami is a great city. It just wasn’t a great city for our marriage. I know they say L.A. has its groupies, but Miami has a different mentality. Even going to the games, the whole environment is so different. Girls are practically sitting in their bra and panties in the arena. When you’re trying to keep your husband, that’s a lot to take. It was a whole new lifestyle I wasn’t ready for. Apparently we didn’t have a strong enough foundation for Shaq to withstand that type of temptation."

Shaunie on confronting Shaq about the infidelity rumors:

He would deny it sometimes, and other times he would ask, ‘You got pictures? Video? If not, don’t come at me because you have no proof.’ “He’d say, ‘Okay, you’re mad. Now what? You’re not going anywhere.

Of course you'll get to see Kimora running her wildly successful clothing line Baby Phat and raising daughters Ming Lee and Aoki Lee, but you'll also get to meet the new men in her life: her dashing husband, actor Djimon Hounsou and adorable son Kenzo.

Hip-hop mogul (or should I say former mogul?) Damon Dash spent the day in New York City with youngest daughter Tallulah, 2, snuggled up in a hot pink Bugaboo stroller. We're loving Damon's spec's!!

Her mom is fashion designer Rachel Roy who filed for divorce in March 2009. The couple also have a daughter, Ava, 10.

I almost forgot to mention the school is in Staten Island about 15 minutes from where I live.

I don't even know this song, "Lisztomania" by Phoenix, but these kids are so into their performance, I can't stop watching...watch out for the swaying if you get motion sickness :) FYI: Phoenix is a French pop group.

Every student needs a Mr. B in their life.

I'm not crazy. I know that kids---especially pre-school-aged kids--have cooties, they lick things for no reason, they spread germs and they get sick.

But Sascha, who is in nursery school at the YMCA, has been sick for an entire month. And I'm not talking about a sniffle here and a tummy ache there. I'm talking about a stomach virus for over a week, then what seemed like the flu (so why did she get a flu shot?!) and now a cold.

Her pediatrician tends to say "that's going around now" or "it's that season, ya know," but guess what, he was also the one who said it was imperative that she get the H1N1 shot because the virus "is heading down the east coast and should be here (in NYC) and widespread by January." I pat myself on the back for not taking his advice on that one. No disrespect to those who have come into contact with the H1N1 virus, but in this case, the doc was wrong.

Back to the cootie kids in Sascha's class... I know parents don't always have the option, but I wish they would reconsider sending their sick kids to class because all it does it spread and spread and spread. On any given day, her class of 14 has about seven students in attendance, half out sick. Then there's the subject of keeping the classrooms clean. I'm totally convinced that those toys, books, crayons and other playthings the kids are using everyday, for multiple classes are never cleaned.

So convinced that I'm about to have a chat with Miss T and Miss K...I'll let you know how that goes.

Am I crazy though, for real? Is it too much for me too expect my child--who is only sick when she's in this school--to not be sick for an entire month?

Love this kid. Daniel "Diggy" Simmons released a mixtape, The First Flight, a few months ago, but this is what I'm talking about. His flow is reminding me of his dad, Run of Run DMC, from years ago.

Uber-expensive stroller retailer, Bugaboo, opened its first retail store in the highly residential (see: lots of kids and families) city in Los Angeles.

Bugaboos average about $800.

The Bugaboo family of strollers and accessories will be available for purchase at the Bugaboo Store. The store will also serve as an event space for special previews and focus groups.
